Lenore and Herbert Schorr Share Their Personal Art Collection and Memories of Basquiat in an Exhibition at Acquavella Galleries BY ANDREW LASANE | MAY 13, 2014 https://twitter/complex_art/status/467054370920890368 As close friends and surrogate parents of Jean-Michel Basquiat, Herbert and Lenore Schorr were in a position during the 1980s where they had access to the artists work and were very supportive of his career early on. Now, 33 years after buying their first Basquiat painting, the couple is displaying pieces from their collection at Acquavella Galleries in an exhibition titled Jean-Michel Basquiat Drawing: Work from the Schorr Family Collection. The exhibition is curated by Fred Hoffman and features 22 drawings and some related paintings created between 1981 and 1986, none of which are for sale despite the increasing demand for Basquiats early work. You have until June 3 to see this special collection, because who knows when these pieces will be seen again?
