Lenovos A6000 could be the cheapest 4G smartphone in India As expected, on Thursday, Chinese smartphone maker Lenovo launched the A6000 smartphone at CES in Las Vegas, Nevada. After the global unveil, the phone is expected to be launched in India next week. Earlier, the phone has been billed as a cheap 4G enabled smartphone. It is very likely that the phone will be the cheapest 4G enabled smartphone in India when it launches, cheaper than even the Yu Yureka and the Microsoft Lumia 638. The Yureka is the cheapest 4G and 64-bit Android smartphone in India. The Lumia 638, on the flip side, is the cheapest 4G smartphone in India, but it runs on Windows Phone 8.1. The A6000 is expected to be cheaper than both these phones, so we could be looking at a subRs.8,000 price point. The device sports a 5-inch 720p display, a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 64-bit processor clocked at 1.2GHz with 4G LTE support and 1GB RAM. The phone also features twin speakers that support Dolby technology. The phone has 8GB of internal memory. On the back, it has a 8-megapixel camera, and a removable 2,300mAh battery. On the front, it has a 2-megapixel camera. It is a dual-SIM phone and is relatively slim at 8.2mm and weighs 128 grams. The phone runs on Android 4.4 KitKat with Lenovos Vibe 2.0 user interface. Lenovo is expected to launch the phone in an exclusive partnership with e-retailer Flipkart. While the phone has not been launched in India, the fact that Flipkarts VP Michael Adnani was at the global unveil is telling. This also indicates that the phone has been tailored for markets like India. The Chinese company already has a partnership with Flipkart to sell some of its phones exclusively online. In November 2014, the company launched the Vibe X2 exclusively on Flipkart. Perhaps, Lenovo is going to opt for a similar strategy. In China, Lenovo sells the K3 smartphone, which has similar hardware specifications, so the A6000 could be basically reworked version of the same device with a different name.
