Lensa coordinator Ekhsan Bukharee has questioned Anwar’s move to refuse invitations given by Barisan Nasional and offers from abroad, opting instead for a more complicated route to solve his problems. KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 17, 2014: Pro-opposition non-governmental organisation Lensa Anak Muda Malaysia (Lensa) has urged Opposition leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim to retire from politics. In a statement directed to the leader released today, Lensa coordinator Ekhsan Bukharee said citizens had grown tired of Anwar’s political ways and explained that the spirit of solidarity once held by the leader was no longer there. He also said if Anwar were to be found guilty in the decision of his Sodomy 2 case on Oct 28 and 29, the citizens would no longer stand with him to object to the decision. For Ekhsan, this was because Anwar had been repeatedly “torturing himself” with his decisions, adding that people now had their own battles to fight. “In the 60s, Datuk Seri chose to lead a student movement that led you to face the ISA. “In 1998 you chose to fight (Tun Dr) Mahathir Mohamad, which again got you arrested under the ISA and landed you in jail. Today, being in your 60s, you have once again chosen the path that leads you to jail. “We consider the decision to be a miserable one that Datuk Seri took on purpose even though there are easier ways.” He added Lensa hoped Anwar would just retire or migrate now for the sake of the people. Ekhsan said even among the Permatang Pauh Member of Parliament’s friends, there were more now who believed in the ‘Semua Salah Anwar’ (All Anwar’s Fault), notion. Many he added, did not want to stand in solidarity with Anwar in court on Oct 28 and 29. Why did Datuk Seri reject that offer? “Why didn’t you accept the invitation from Turkey, which offered you an opportunity to stay there? Wouldn’t it have been better that you migrated there rather than repeatedly facing the uncontrollable regime that is so dissatisfied with you that you had to bow down to them?” Lensa’s grouse came after PKR Youth decided to launch a campaign to gather solidarity for Anwar among citizens, as was done in 1999. Ekhsan said the campaign compelled Lensa to explain that the nation was sick and tired of Anwar’s political journeys. Beliau juga mendakwa, semakin ramai yang menunjukkan sikap negatif ke atas bekas timbalan perdana menteri Umno itu. Apa yang amat kami harapkan ialah, demi rakyat, Datuk Seri bersaralah, berhijrahlah. Nyata semakin ramai yang tidak menggemari Datuk Seri. Jelas sekali modus operandinya sama dan berulang seperti tahun tahun terdahulu. Setiap kali Datuk Seri akan disumbat ke dalam penjara, maka setiap kali itulah rakyat akan diheret ke jalan raya. Datuk Seri, sampai bila rakyat akan terus terheret dalam semua ini?, soalnya dalam surat yang diperolehi Malaysiakini. Menurutnya, Anwar perlu bersimpati dengan golongan penyokong yang sejak sekian lama menunjukkan solidariti bersama Anwar. Berhimpun, berkumpul, bersorak melaung-laungkan nama Datuk Seri. Sampai bila Datuk Seri ingin melihat rakyat berpanas, berkeringat di bawah panas matahari, hanya kerana bersolidariti bersama Datuk Seri, kata Ekhsan lagi. Himpunan Rakyat Hakim Negara anjuran sayap pemuda PKR, AMK itu diadakan pada tarikh keputusan rayuan terakhir Anwar di Mahkamah Persekutuan dalam kes Liwat II.
