Lent is a Christian tradition. For 6 1/2 weeks Christians prepare for Easter. How do we prepare? We examine our shortcomings and anxieties. We reflect on our relationship with Christ. People are asked to make changes in their lives either by giving up a bad habit or start a positive behavior. God wants us to give up the unnecessary parts of our lives and move towards Christs hope. I have come to love Lent. Lent has changed my life. Through Lent I have gradually over the years developed a more intimate relationship with Christ. I have given up things which stood between God and myself and begin doing what God wants. Dont get me wrong. Lent continues to force me to painfully see how sinful I am. Lent is hard. But it is worth it. In the past Lenten seasons God has patiently and gracefully had me face my downfalls and open new doors. The bottomline: When we practice Lent our faith in Christ grows. Though it is not easy. I love Lent for the changes the God has brought to my life.
