Leo aka Quark was found in the back of a vet clinic in an area - TopicsExpress

Leo aka Quark was found in the back of a vet clinic in an area that the animal control used for holding until they could go out the back door. That county had no shelter for animals and no program for them at all and Leo was deemed unadoptable due to his dirty appearance and physical condition. His small dirty paw reached out and snagged Kendra as she walked by on other business, insisting on her attention. As soon as she reached her hand up to the cage to pet him through the bars he started purring. He was matted so badly that he was what is called pelted. His urine and feces couldnt escape his body and was pushed upwards towards his chin. He smelled and looked awful. He was thin, his eyes were weak and he was suffering from a URI. Kendra took him to Owens Crossroads Animal Clinic. It was the close of the business day but they waited for him, and everyone stayed late shaving and cutting away mats and peeling back the layers of knots and filth. The whole time Leo purred and laid, relaxed and trusting, on the exam table. He even let them shave between his toes! By the time Kendra took him home that night he was already a friskier, brighter eyed bundle of gratitude. He never looked back. I adopted Leo a few months later from FOR, along with another FOR foster, Tuna the kitten. I had been searching for several weeks for a kitten, and Leo caught my eye on petfinder. Even though he was not a kitten, I knew he was the one after speaking to Kendra about his difficult journey to freedom. A dog trapped in a cats body, Leo is an old soul who knows what he wants which usually involves a tasty treat, ear scratches, and playtime. Hes loved, well groomed, and spoiled rotten along with Tuna his FOR sister. Here are some before and after pictures. -Mary #lightforpets
