Leo got his wheels!! We are so excited to tell of you that because Go Leo Go was such a huge success, we were able to get an accessible van ! I think we are still in a state of shock at how successful the fundraiser was, and how unbelievably generous you all have been. This is life changing for us. This provides Leo with a safe and secure ride, the room for us to work with him in emergency situations, and the freedom to take him out to see more places and do more things. We hit the road as soon we got the van for a weekend trip to Blowing Rock and Grandfather Mountain. We had a great time, and Leo had a great ride in his van. He was actually able to see out the windows! The van made the trip not only possible, but much more enjoyable! We are able to have all Leo’s equipment loaded on his medical stroller and then simply wheel him in and out. It is so easy, and it allowed us to do more and see more. We are forever grateful for what you all have done. You are giving us memories and experiences that we would otherwise not be able to have. We are also much more confident and have less stress because Leo is much more safe. After all donations were matched dollar for dollar by our anonymous donor, there was not only enough money to purchase the van, but there is an additional $106,000 for research and to help other families through CureSMA.org !!! We are absolutely thrilled, blown away and again, still in shock! We are so blessed and so thankful to have your support. Our family, friends and community are incredible. You are making an impact on so many lives, and we are honored to have you in our lives. It is impossible to express our gratitude. You all have chosen to reach out to us, and surround us with love and support. You all are a true blessing to Leo. We are sad to say we have heard of several young babies that just this week have lost their battles with SMA. It is crushing to hear this news. What we can do is continue to have hope. Seeing what was accomplished with Go Leo Go helps give us that hope. Knowing you all care so much for not only Leo, but for all of these precious children that are fighting for their lives makes us feel surrounded by love in a world that has the potential to be isolating.
