Leonardo Pin posted this photo of Fred Olsen Flyselskap A/S V.779D series Viscount LN-FOK and says;- Glorious Fred Olsens Flyselskap was formed on June 17, 1946 out of pre-WWII assets. Unscheduled operations were started soon thereafter. In the years the fleet incorporated several well known types: Convair 340s, Douglas DC3s, DC4s, and DC6s. Vickers Viscounts were the first turboprop-powered airliners and a total of six joined the fleet in mid-50s. One of them is herewith in a (now rare) postcard issued by the airline. Fred Olsens stopped operations in March, 1998. This Viscount was built for Fred Olsen Flyselskap A/S as LN-FOK and first flew on Tuesday, 23 July 1957 at Hurn, Bournemouth, Hampshire, England powered by Rolls-Royce Dart 510 engines. During its life it was also owned and/or operated by AUA - Austrian Airlines, SAS - Scandinavian Airlines System, and IAC - Indian Airlines Corporation. Its fate:- Withdrawn from service by IAC - Indian Airlines Corporation as VT-DOI and stored at Palam, New Delhi, India in March 1971 and subsequently broken up for scrap. The actual date is not known. Odd Arnestad posted the second image and say; More to Leonardos post about Fred Olsens Flyselskap. Here is the same Viscount from the inside.
