Leone Stars players had their first training session on Wednesday morning in Yaounde under the guidance of the Sports ministry appointed coaches Atto Mensah and John Sama to prepare for their forthcoming 2015 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying matches against Cameroon’s Indomitable Lions. All the fifteen players currently in Yaounde led by skipper Umaru ‘Zingallay’ Bangura participated in the training session which took place at the Cameroonian football Federation’s academy. The players are Solomon Zombo Morris, Patrick Bantamoi, Mustapha Dumbuya, Sheriff Suma, David Simbo, Umaru Bangura, Khalifa Jabbie, Mohamed Medo Kamara, Hassan Milla Sesay, Alhassan Bangura, Gibrilla Woobay, Alie Sesay, Alhassan Kamara, Ibrahim Kallay and John Kamara. USA based goalkeeper John Trye is due to arrive in Yaounde on Wednesday night. Others are due to arrive before the match on Saturday. There is presently a dispute over the coaching of the team as there are two sets of coaches appointed by separate bodies to be in charge of the team for the matches in Yaounde on October 11 and 15. Mensah and Sama are backed by the Sports ministry while John Ajina Sesay and Abdulai Bah were appointed by the Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA). According to the spokesperson of the SLFA Abu Bakarr Kamara, their appointed coaches are due to arrive in Yaounde on Thursday and will take over the team immediately they arrive. But Mensah believes he would be in charge and he says he’s focused on the match. He said: “We are going to be in charge of the team because we are appointed by both the Sports ministry and the SLFA.” He added: “I’ve put everything behind me, we are now focused on the match on Saturday and we want to do well.” Meanwhile, sier raleonefootballunderstands that the team were prevented from training on Tuesday because they didn’t get clearance from the Cameroonian football authorities. Also on Tuesday there was bitter argument between officials of SLFA in Yaounde and some members of the technical team appointed by the Sports ministry over moving the team from the hotel they were staying to another hotel booked by the SLFA. The entire Leone Stars delegation in Yaounde are now staying at the Felicia Hotel booked by the SLFA.
