Lesson God remembers you My dad was very old fashion, he had his mistakes, but I still remember all the good things he taught me. Even though my mom and he divorced, he never dated or re-married. He always remembered her on Christmas, birthdays, Mother’s day, with cards and gifts. Even in his last days while lying in the hospital he looked at her and said, You are the most beautiful woman I have ever known. He died within a few days after that. I remember my dad getting up around two in the morning walking ten miles to work, because his car was broke down. I remember all the times we wrestle together, flew kites, and how he would throw the football with me. Most of all I remember his love to my mom, sister, and to me. Even though someone is gone, we still have them in our memory. We never realize how much we will miss their smiles, laughter, or hugs until they are gone. My dad has been gone several years now, but I still love him as if he was right here with me. Act 10:1-4 there was a certain man in Caesarea called Cornelius, a centurion of the band called the Italian band, A devout man, and one that feared God with all his house, which gave much alms to the people, and prayed to God always. He saw in a vision evidently about the ninth hour of the day an angel of God coming in to him, and saying unto him, Cornelius. And when he looked on him, he was afraid, and said, what is it, Lord? And he said unto him, Thy prayers and thine alms are come up for a memorial before God. Did you know God also has a memorial? God remembers what we do for him. Whatever we do for the kingdom of God, the Lord remembers. This man Cornelius was a devout man, he feared God with his entire house. He prayed to God always. Please notice the angel of God said, Thy prayers and thine alms are come up for a memorial before God. How wonderful this must have been, to have this angel say this to him. Cornelius must now realize his hard dedication and faithfulness to God has not come unnoticed. Now in the eleventh chapter of Acts we find that Cornelius is not born again yet of the water and spirit. The Bible actually said he wasnt saved. Act 11:13 And he showed us how he had seen an angel in his house, which stood and said unto him, Send men to Joppa, and call for Simon, whose surname is Peter; Act 11:14 Who shall tell thee words, whereby thou and all thy house shall be saved. I want to stress something here for all ministers that may read this lesson. Remember even though Cornelius wasnt saved, until he actually sees Peter, he still loved God to the best of his knowledge. What he has done for the Lord with his prayers and raising his family in the fear of the Lord has been noticed in heaven. We must be very careful not to discourage those that have not known the full truth. Yes we must tell them except a man is born again of water and spirit he won’t enter into the kingdom of God, but at the same time, being very careful not to call them names such as devils. Some people like Cornelius has never heard about the born again experience of Acts Chapter 2:1-4 and Acts 2:37-41 Act 10:44-48 While Peter yet spake these words, the Holy Ghost fell on all them which heard the word. And they of the circumcision which believed were astonished, as many as came with Peter, because that on the Gentiles also was poured out the gift of the Holy Ghost For they heard them speak with tongues, and magnify God. Then answered Peter Can any man forbid water, that these should not be baptized, which have received the Holy Ghost as well as we? And he commanded them to be baptized in the name of the Lord. Then prayed they him to tarry certain days. I do believe if a person is seeking God with all their heart, the Lord will bring someone to show them the truth, like he did with Cornelius. This man named Cornelius loved God and feared God with his entire household. He prayed to God always. Now he has his reward, the born again experience Jesus spoke about in St. John 3:1-7 He has received the Holy Ghost with the evidence of speaking in other tongues, and has been baptized in the name of the Lord. So as we go today remembering all of our lost love ones, let also remember the Lord has a memorial. So be dedicated, hold the faith, run the race, fight the good fight of faith, because everything you’re doing for God he is remembering. May the lord bless you with this lesson.
