Lesson about prayer and America. This is a refresher course to those who are praying about the condition of our great country, or anything else. People say Im praying about this or that but I cant see anything happening. Does God still work miracles? Yes! Absolutely! 24/7/365! But what most fail to realize is that God works mainly through us and others. Which takes action on our part. Which is why they never really experience the power of our Lord. Proof? Just read your Bible. Some examples are astonishing miraculous while others are so low key, we read right over them, never recognizing that whoop, there it is. Examples? Sure. Got time, I could go on for days, but here are some you probably have never looked at from the appropriate angle. And that angle is this. God doesnt do for us what we can do for ourselves. Thats NOT to say He leaves us high and dry. NO. He (if we are willing) guides us and imparts His wisdom upon us to make the right choices so that He can work through us. In these example I want you to look for those who stepped out in faith, ready and willing to change their situation, and who followed through with action. Ready? Abraham, the exodus from Egypt, Moses, Joshua, Jericho, Samuel, David (that rock didnt through itself), Solomon, the OT Prophets. Then John and the disciples. You should look really hard at the disciples. Pre chosen by Jesus, though they didnt know that, yet willing to drop everything and follow Him. Why? They were desperately looking for a change. And through the disciples we can also see that some people only take action for personal gain, not to further the kingdom. Do you know why Judas was pre chosen? All part of the bigger picture, which hadnt been revealed yet. Judas was chosen because Jesus needed a bad guy to fulfill the prophecies. With His foreknowledge, He knew the other 11 would never betray Him, so He had to insert someone who would. Do you get the picture? Praying about something? Get moving. Take action. Know someone who is sick? GO over there and lay hands on them! Know someone who is having financial difficulty? GO and council them! Kids doing bad in school? GO and help, encourage, and teach them yourself. Know someone who needs Jesus? GO and reveal Him to them. America not working out like it should? GO and get involved. Dont just pray, pray and take action. God is not about to swoop down here and clean up the mess and start all over, simply because we allowed this mess to happen. Hell guide us, Hell give us wisdom, Hell put words in our mouths at the right time, Hell show us how to correct the problem. BUT, only if were willing to GO! Faith is an action word as God so bluntly explains in His word, faith without WORKS, is dead. Pray for this nation? Yes, but then do something about it. Thats when the answer will come.
