Lesson in economics-lets say that for a living I sell widgets. I sell widgets to people in another country who make them into thingies. One day while picking up a load of widgets, someone approaches me, says they love widgets and dont want them shipped to become thingies. They ask what I want for the widgets I just bought. I say, $100 over what i paid so I make some profit. They say ok, and pay cash. I think, wow. That was easy. They must really love widgets. I didnt even have to pay to ship them and made profit. The next week it happens again. I think, they were so desperate for widgets, Ill up the price. This week Im asking $150 over my cost. They pay it. The following week, Im seeing dollar signs, (a new truck, and my kids college fund). I up the price again. Desperate to save the widgets, they pay it. My bottom line is growing. I buy more and more widgets to ship, they keep buying several at a time at a huge profit for me. Finally I decide to sell direct to the widget lovers. I need to make my truck payment, so I tell them to cone quick or the widgets are off to be shipped. They come running with cash. Im sitting pretty. I talk to other widget Sellers, they agree to hike prices so everyone makes a big profit. Before long we are getting twice our widgets value, especially the old widgets, or broken ones with no real value anyway. No matter the demands, the widget lovers Rush to meet them and Im still buying and shipping twice the widgets i was before because my bottom line has increased ten fold. Boy was that easy! Now, it may seem cold, but replace that with horses, kill buyers and kill lots. When people pay these outrageous prices, yes they save that horse, but at what cost? That kb now knows you will pay whatever, and he can always say the truck is coming to get it whenever he wants. He makes a big profit. He can buy and ship even more horses. All because you will do whatever it takes to save that one. Terrible to think about, but, is that one life worth the torture of so many more, and telling the kb that they hold all the cards? You make it harder for anyone dealing with that kb, because now he knows you will do whatever he says. Its a dangerous cycle. Save them BEFORE they get to the feed lot!
