Lessons I have learnt on a magical night of classical music. Yesterday we enjoyed an amazing concert by maestro Valery Gergiev conducting the Rotterdams Philharmonisch Orkest. Janine Jansen played Brahms Violin Concert with an incredible passion. Gergiev, friend of Russian president Putin, and author of somewhat ignorant comments on gays, made his countrymen Rimsky-Korsakov and Tchaikovsky sound so amazingly beautiful. Lesson 1: Music overcomes differences. Russian composers Rimsky-Korsakov and Tchaikovsky were both gay. Lesson 2: Russia has much more to offer than oil, caviar and shirtless presidents (I knew thatttt). Lesson 3: Classical music is so much more interesting than pop music. #Rotterdam #makeithappen
