Lessons from President Uhurus decision to appoint his deputy the Acting President for 2 days: Normally, a nations culture influences all its aspects including its politics, economy and its legal structure. This is seemingly different in Kenya, where politics are arguably more powerful than our values system. 3 days ago when President Uhuru appointed his deputy the Acting President, many people were uncomfortable with the decision. Politics in Kenya heavily influence our economy as well as our individual values. Kenyan politicians have over the years borne a culture of distrust and eroded our values system. A number of them are on record betraying old friends to form new alliances that best serves their personal interests. The same distrust and disloyalty has percolated into our personal relationships with those close to us. Sadly, we seem to tolerate and accept it into our culture. In my opinion, the Presidents move to appoint his deputy the Acting President should be an encouragement that we need to be loyal and trust one another. Among the things you can give and still keep is your WORD. If you honor it, honor, love and respect shall come to you. Imagine how different it would be if we all loyal and trust worthy :)
