Lessons from the Prodigal Son I took a critical look at Jesus’ - TopicsExpress

Lessons from the Prodigal Son I took a critical look at Jesus’ parable of the Lost Son or the prodigal Son, and I drew out the following lesson: A lot of ‘’believers’’ believe they can pray a prayer to cause God to do things at a time, when it is not right, if He does, which is His permissive will, it doesn’t always turn out well. Your wants don’t equal your need. He knows the season and He understands the times. As He says ‘’wait on me, I will do it at my time for I make everything beautiful in my time not yours, for who has known the mind of God to counsel Him”. We try to run from God’s authority, from our parents’ authority, etc, saying, we want to be free, the truth is no man is truly free here on earth, you must be under authority. God made man to be dependent on a higher being, to be under authority. As stated earlier No man is truly free who is not under God’s authority. Ironically as this may sound, we can’t be free from authority either we are under God’s or another, which often times is not favorable. Remember we are the branches, He’s the Vine. As we like sheep, we have strayed away from Him, demanding our ‘’freedom‘’ to a far place, far from His presence, to live life as we please. We hurt him, yet God stands at the door every now and then believing that someday His “lost son” would return, cos He loves him. And when this lost son finally repents, when he decides to turn around from his wrong path to begin to walk the right path back to God, God, as always waiting for the return of His son, sees His son coming back to Him, He embraces him, calls the host of heaven to a feast, for a son that was lost is found. Beloved, I’ve come to know God to be full of love and compassion, patient with us, He believes in us even when we go wrong, and He’s waiting patiently for you to return so He can restore you to your place of inheritance.
