Lest someone get the wrong idea (I must be getting old-giving a rip about somebody getting the wrong idea) my previous post was written in a sort of chronological narrative that led to the final point-the Willie Nelson paraphrase. It was not about what I gave (I waste more time and money than that at any given moment) rather about what I got. We are most all addicted to this materially driven world that is thrust upon us continually by a shameless media and a ruthless thing called marketing. It pervades our world with useless things we dont really need and are not satisfied with when we get them. Our world is so fogged up with this that we cannot see what is right in front of us. Given the time of day and the busy intersection, Ill bet well over a thousand people missed an opportunity to receive a blessing in their lives by simply performing a simple act of kindness and human decency. How many of us remember the last time we gave of ourselves in a situation where there was absolutely no probability of receiving any reward, other than feeling genuinely good about being in the service of another human being. Not to piss any animal lovers off, but many people these days would be more likely to involve themselves in a situation involving an animal than another human being. I dont know if this lady was praying for assistance and she didnt say much while in my vehicle-no woe is me or complaining nor excessive thanking. What she did do after I put the gas in her car was to take my hands, look me in the eye and ask the Lords countenance to come over me and His blessings to fill my life and a few other eloquent expressions that I cannot remember, but the essence of those exhortations and the moment will linger for many years to come. That is the point I was making.
