Lest we forget, today is D-Day, 6 June, the 69th anniversary of the landing of American, British and Canadian forces upon the shores of Normandy, France to free Europe from Nazi oppression. We need to remember and honor the bravery and sacrifice of those who died upon those beaches as well as honor and remember the service of those who survived the initial assault to go on to further battles against consummate evil. Those soldiers, sailors, airmen and marines were indeed the greatest generation. I am in awe of their devotion to duty, honor and country. Take a moment to honor their service and to reflect upon the high cost of freedom. Many pay the price so that many more can enjoy the fruits of liberty.
