Let each of you esteem and look upon and be concerned for not - TopicsExpress

Let each of you esteem and look upon and be concerned for not [merely] his own interests, but also each for the interests of others. (Phil 2:4 AMP) When Mary asked Jesus to help rescue a potentially embarrassing situation at a wedding she knew what she was doing. She knew her Son - His mindset and capabilities. Her Son had a great concern for the lives and interests of others. This concern for others and His growth in and implementation of the wisdom of God is what allowed Him to be effective in other peoples lives and grow in favour with man. Mary knew that her Son valued preparation and was compassionate. She had obviously seen her Son at work helping people and rescuing people in serious predicaments. Living in a small town meant that she got to hear about her Sons exploits in helping other people. She knew that He did not mind being asked to help even when the request may have been inconvenient or out of the ordinary. The confidence with which she turned to Him to help and then left everything in His hands was the result of what she knew and had seen. At the wedding it was not a sudden desire to help that entered Jesus life, that had always been in place. What happened at the wedding was the addition of a supernatural dimension of being able to help people in ways and on a scale that was unprecedented. When the Bible says that He grew in wisdom, stature and in favour with God and man, it was not because of some mystery download or because of the laying on of hands. This happened because He exercised the little mustard seed of assistance He started off with and God because of His nature blessed Jesus. We need to remember the power and promotion that lies in and comes with a concern for our fellow man. Our concern and assistance may be done in seemingly insignificant ways but God notices EVERYTHING and never fails to release a reward. Josephs concern for his fellow prisoners got him promoted to prime minister. Lydias concern for people ensured she was raised from the dead. The examples of the blessing and power of God flowing in individuals lives (both great and small) because of their concern for others are so numerous. May your capacity to be a blessing to others multiply. May your ability to express love to your fellow man open great doors for you and bring you great honour. Pastor M. Chiviya
