Let me give you the brass tacks on holidays such as Thanksgiving, Christmas, Easter, New Years, etc..For me, its less about Jesus or the new year or the settling of this country and more about family. Being with loved ones and sharing the bounty we are all blessed with, no matter how small. Time is a commodity we never run out of! ^_^ Our Native American brothers and sisters never lost sight of these values. For them, Thanksgiving is a time of mourning, for the genocide of a people is what Thanksgiving truly commemorates. AT Thanksgiving, I am thankful for all I have, but I also remember the poor lost souls who were forcibly converted to Christianity or killed or driven from their land. Family above all and blood is not the only thing that makes us all family. Sharing this planet with all peoples and even the animals that mankind has forgotten how to coexist with, but it is never too late to change. And like New Years resolutions, someones word becomes meaningless if they put it off till later. Best to act now and preserve and protect what is truly important.
