Let me just give you a heads-up. This is going to be a powerful week in the education advocating department. There is a lot going down (I so wish I could tell you). Honestly, based on all my postings, you might not believe how bipartisan I really am. I have voted for BOTH sides of the aisle with presidents in the past decade. When it comes to education, though, no one has disappointed me more than President Obama. No one. Not even George Bushs No Child Left Behind can compare with Race to the Top. However, no one has harmed education in the state of Ohio more than John Kasich. No one. I am a single issue voter this time around and the issue is education. When the state is testing kindergartners to the point of tears (and vomit), there is something majorly wrong and some big time $$$$ overtaking common decency. When ten year-olds are going to take over 18 hours worth of testing at the computer and lose out on two months of school to do so (and to prepare for it), we need to speak up. This is no longer about Common Core, this is about what is morally right (I didnt even speak out against Common Core in the beginning until I did my research to know all this was a package deal). I hate to be so blunt as to say this, but if you vote for John Kasich, you are voting against children. If you dont vote at all, you are voting against children because a no vote is a vote for him. I dont know about the other issues and honestly, I dont care. Children first. Were losing a whole generation right now. When teachers and parents are coming together to tell the state that our children are suffering and enough is enough and NO ONE seems to be listening to the point of activating, then, we need to amp up our efforts and take great risks. Im not talking here about unions and tenure and teachers, Im talking about children. Your children. My grandchildren. Our countrys children. Any children. Here is my marching order: Harm Not the LIttle Ones. I wont turn my back on my students and Ive seen firsthand what is coming their way in February with the PARCC testing (not even an American company). Im willing to risk it all to go down fighting on behalf of the boys and girls on my watch. THANK YOU to all you parents, teachers, grandparents, and community leaders who are sending me emails and side notes and joining the REAL LEARNING cause. I cant even field your messages fast enough. Parent and Teacher groups are popping up everywhere. Thank you, Amherst people for stepping up! Thank you, Elyria parents, for not letting the state harm your children! Thank you, Keystone parents who started me off on this path in the first place. Thank you, Firelands staff for trying to get the message out! Thank you, Channel 3 for still being a media source that tells the truth about what is going on in education. Thank you, homeschooling parents for spreading my messages because you know your children could be next. Thank you to all the legislators on my page (from both political parties) who are engaging me in side conversations. However, each legislator Ive talked with has pretty much told me his/her hands are tied and that it will take a major act of civil disobedience on the part of the parents to get things done. Are you willing to fight for your children, parents? Because, I think Ive proven, I AM. Lets do this! -anonymous
