Let me just say this once, but let me say it loud: There are those who call themselves Christians in my life, in my newsfeed, and their joy is visible today. Half of the posts this morning are full of Easter joy, greetings, people checking in at liturgy, and icons of the risen Lord. To them, I say: He is Risen INDEED! Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead. 1 Peter 1:3 Then there are those who call themselves Christian, and their posts are full of stress about clothing, hair, baking, cooking, things they need to buy or bought, arguments they are having with family members... To those I say: keep your peace, and find joy, He is Risen! Alleluia! Jesus said- Rejoice always; pray without ceasing; in everything give thanks; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus. 1 Thessalonians 5:16 And then, there are those -- so, so many-- in my newsfeed, and many of whom I have called friend-- who call themselves Christians, and yet EVEN on this high holy day, their blasphemous posts are all business, money-making, entertainment and industry. They are checking in from work, or from places of play, and relating the Easter message to their financial success and earthly blessings. I love them very much. But to them I am forced to say on this blessed day: Do not be fooled. “No one can serve two masters, for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and money. Matthew 6:24. The Message if the Risen Lord is not that you will have peace on earth, but that you will have peace in your HEARTS, for the Lord has conquered death and all earthly things. Remember the words of Christ: Again I tell you, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich person to enter the kingdom of God.” Matthew 19:24
