Let me learn to write love poems caringly; For today you wrote me my first one. I lay down like a doe with its heel arrow struck Reading again a share of your heart in words I know not how to reply to this tenderness And wait for the arrow to fall off on its own Till I reach for my quill to attempt a trial. And how many arrows have I shot in agony One more fierce than the last presuming This helpless silence to be indifference. Wont you pardon me, love, till I learn To write bearing in mind, the eyes That will read them and a beautiful heart Drawing pieces of the other deeply within
