Let me point something out that I would have thought would have - TopicsExpress

Let me point something out that I would have thought would have been obvious but the last 24 hours have educated me (where, clearly, others have decided that education is secondary to spewing venom and standing in judgment): Yes, I was depressed when my first child was stillborn. I was depressed when my grandparents, father and mother passed. I was depressed as I believe that most other human beings have felt. However, I was not suffering from the disease of depression. That is far different from the depression you might feel from losing someone. It is a dark hole from which there is no escape. I developed a thyroid problem at the same time I went through early menopause and suffered a chemical imbalance that simulated the disease of depression. It was temporary situation but I cannot express the difference between being depressed and depression. Sincerely, just shut the f--- up unless you have experience with the disease. Losing someone you love - while horrible but part of the process of living - is not even close to what people who suffer from depression deal with.
