Let me say this, any time an expert does not read a record or do - TopicsExpress

Let me say this, any time an expert does not read a record or do an exam, and makes a decision, then I do not consider them an expert. If I referred you to someone and they treated you that way, please let me know, they would not stay in our referral list. My post may seem biased to you, I have spent 30 yrs in the field, had endo myself for 36 years before finally being freed of it in 1989. I have talked to thousands of women over the years referring them for care. Many stay in touch because their lives were profoundly changed. There are key steps to a good surgery, they include a careful history, exam and review of records. They include understanding where endo lies and what it looks like in all phases of its evolution and it requires skills and certifications to remove endo from where ever it lies. Most gyns do not have such certifications or trainings. Out of the 52,000 gyns in the US less than 100 have been identified as providing effective surgical treatment of disease. I am not compensated in any way for my 50-60 hrs a week directing people to better care. If an excision expert did not help you, I always suggest a second opinion of an other expert. Sometimes a second set of eyes brings new understanding. There are many factors in pelvic pain, endo, adenomyosis, pelvic floor dysfunction, spinal issues, irritable bowel (though endo should be ruled out as often irritable bowel symptoms are in fact due to endo in the pelvis), other bowel disorders, appendicitis, bladder issues, kidney issues, and so on. But long term published follow up studies have shown that recurrene rates are quite low and that for most, persistent pain deserves another look because more often than not endo persists. I offer my thoughts based on my experience and interaction with thousands of women over these years. Anger directed at me for failed treatments is ok, but not about me. I know from experience both personal professional what works for most patients and because I have seen so many lives put back on track, I would never give up trying to provide more information, more opinions, and better education of endo patients.
