Let me see if Ive got this straight: 1. Obama gets Congress to pass the Affordable Care Act and then, realizing how unpopular some of its provisions might be, arbitrarily suspends them, with no legal authority to do so as though, having sponsored the act, he thereby acquired extra-legal rights over its implementation. 2. Obama inherits a surveillance program from Bush, which is a) an illegal extension of section 215 of the Patriot Act and b) an unconstitutional violation of the 4th-Amendment right to unreasonable search and seizure. He tries to keep the whole program secret until it is blown by Edward Snowden. Now, in an area where he really does have executive discretion and could simply order the whole thing stopped, he wont simply act to right the wrong but, instead, *proposes* to Congress that this illegal program be made more subject to judicial review, as though he were merely a well-meaning bystander trying to help change a flat tire. The mans intellectual dishonesty and moral cowardice disgust me.
