Let me share something with you. From one of my year 7s. My additions are in brackets. I am copying letter for letter . When I got their...there was lost of people getting killed each day. I was really lucky that I didnt get killed. After the 2 months I went to Malaysia on a boat which was really terifyng, I couldnt sleep at all because of how scared I was. But after I got their I was really happy that I made it safely.(3 months in Malaysia..then) to Indinasia with a boat it was really scary. Then-(after 3 months) I also went on a boat again. We went to Christmas Island but we stayed in the boat for 15 nights One night when we were sleeping, the boat went back 6hours so we had to stay longer in the boat. When we got to Christmas Island the people were really nice to us. We had to stay in a camp for 2 months....When we got to Melbourne, we were so glad that we could finally live happily in a city safely. That is how I got to Australia. I hope that this wasnt a boring letter No, my child, it wasnt boring. It made me cry. It is so important that we retain our humanity. I can put faces to boat people, illegal arrivals, refugees-or whatever you want to call them. I work with them every day. What this kid went through was unimaginable, yet he is happy to live in a city safely, and he hopes it wasnt a boring letter. My heart is heavy, and I weep for him on so many levels.
