Let me start this off by telling you how petrified I am of spiders. Almost every person in my life has been transformed, at some point, into an all-powerful spider warrior. However, an open call for spider eradication needs to be addressed Mr Greig. From everything I’ve heard, there’s a bunch of reasons not only to get rid of arachnophobia, but to actually embrace spiders (not literally…dear god, not literally) as a wonderful part of one’s natural (and sometimes home) environment. Look beyond the rough exterior and here you have a little champ who feats on my ultimate pet hate: mosquitoes and sh@t flies. So, he is important to our eco system and helps prevent other nasty insects infesting my home. And keeps insect and arthropod populations in check. And makes food for birds, snakes, fish and other animals. Still not sold? I have two words for you: SPIDER SILK!!! Could be useful to us one day thanks to its durability and make everything from artificial tendons to bulletproof vests and parachute cords. Yawn, you say? Well spider silk is tougher than Kevlar and stronger than steel but also very fine and lightweight. Can’t beat that. So come on – dont kill em, just kick em out….
