Let me tell you what were going to do here-absolutely NOTHING. Why will we do nothing? The main reason is, contrary to Johnny what year is this again? McCains beliefs, this isnt 1963 anymore. This is 2014, and our corporations have some pretty deep hooks in Russia. The simple fact of the matter is, we arent going back to a Cold War footing, no matter how the neocons might rejoice over it. Russia is in the Crimean region to stay (and in fact always were there, the Crimean separation being a Khrushchevite construct in much the same manner that Bosnia was a Titoite construct,) and they are about as likely to leave Crimea as they are to leave South Ossetia. The best we can hope for is a pretty-please request that Russia doesnt decide to flex its muscle in the rest of Ukraine. We wouldnt stop them, and our corporations would never allow even much of an economic response. This was always going to happen. And this isnt the only place its going to happen. Sooner or later, the same thing is going to happen in Estonia. The best we can hope for is that the Ukrainians will be left alone in the territories they have always inhabited.
