Let the U.S. Government know that Mexican gray wolves deserve - TopicsExpress

Let the U.S. Government know that Mexican gray wolves deserve protection! A year ago, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (FWS) published a proposal to expand the protected habitat for this subspecies of wolf. Now, FWS is back with a revised proposal. Fortunately, FWS wants to release captive-bred wolves over a much broader region—including new areas of New Mexico and parts of Arizona. Unfortunately, the new proposed rule also authorizes their slaughter in an increased number of circumstances. Ranchers would have more leeway to kill wolves… even ones who have not posed any threat. State agencies, which receive much of their funding from selling hunting licenses, would also be permitted to kill, capture, or relocate wolves who have an unacceptable impact on deer, elk, or other game populations. We need to let FWS know that, while we support the proposal for a broader habitat, the wolves cannot withstand increased hunting. How can you help? 1) Submit a comment online by September 23! A sample comment is included in the link below for you to use or modify. 2) FWS is holding a public hearing this Wednesday, and we need a strong turnout of wolf advocates!
