Let us for the sake of argument agree that GEJ accepted to serve one term under duress. The truth is that those people who were and are still cajoling or pressurizing him to serve one term are in fact trying to deny him his fundamental human rights and are working against the provision of the Nigerian Constitution; that each Nigerian can present himself for another tenure at the expiration of the first one, for the electorate to decide if they would want to re-elect him (my words please). The decision of Nigerian to re-elect such person will depend on their perception of his performance. The Constitution never handed that power over to any group of selfish politicians (Cabal) who have a different agenda. To prove that the insistent for one term agenda was done for a diabolical reason, several effort to ask these same people to make the Presidency a single term affair of 6 years or so, was refused. And I wonder why would anyone impose one term tenure on another but would not want to make it politically correct by entrenching it into the Constitution? We all have a right to review decisions we make in the past and to modify them when we have better knowledge and therefore can take better decision for improvement and progress. In this case, it was Nigerians after reviewing the progress Nigeria has made in the past 4 years and for the need for continuity and consolidation that asked and insisted that GEJ should do another term and he would have been destroyed politically if he had refused to accept the offer. Please leave this matter to rest. GEJ will have his second term as entrenched in the Constitution. Let us all support him so that Nigeria will enjoy the much needed political continuity and stability. This is no time to further put Nigeria into unnecessary stress as this will not achieve its sinister agenda.
