Lets Reason Together..............! Nigeria and indeed Nigerians need prayers for Devine intervention to get us out of the woods. How so, you may ask? From my early formative years just before the civil war, most of the political talks I was opportuned to overhear between my late father and his circle of friends and associates revolved around how corrupt the government was. As a news caster, I cant even begin to recall how often our news bulletins were inundated with stories bordering on corruption and fraudulent activities by public and elected officials. As a reporter and Publisher of a newspaper, I swear that it was good business for copies . And its been the oil that keeps political campaign machineries runing non-stop over the years. In fact, you couldnt end a political speech without touching on it. Yet, year after year, time and time again, each politician, political party had pledged to eradicate this monster, to no avail. After a prolonged reasoning, I came to some conclusions, which could sadden the hear of many. First, the problem of corruption is not entirely the fault of individual politicians, but the collective undoing of our society. Secondly, the problem is cancerous and had eaten so very deep into the society that its eradication will require very daring methods that mere radiation may not cant satisfy. Theres no way any government can successfully tackle this scorpion without an ethical and mental reorientation by the entire citizenry. Until every Nigerian accepts that every citizen is equal before the law, and sees it as criminal for anyone to offer, or accept an inducement (bribery),for doing your assigned duty. Until then, were not ready for the desired Eldorado. Have you ever wondered why a political party should fix so much fees for a simple thing as a party form? Oh does it bother you why none contestants should be the most insolent and vocal in running down another contestant to an elective office of his/her preferred candidate? Look closer, and it will sadden you to know that its all in an anticipated direct benefits from the preferred candidate, which colloquially is now termed Democratic Dividend, Stomach Infrastructure.
