For must I remind us (particularly women, black gay men, and others who are subjected to masculinist violence), this black manhood ideal which we calculate as strength has instigated a lot of issues: violence against women and lovers, violence between each other, gang violence, pulpit pimpin, hate crimes against LGBT folk, materialism, and many other ills. What we need is to reclaim Black Humanity & Value…this has not historically meant black manhood. THIS has historically excluded women. If, for you, black masculinity and manhood is a loving, progressive, and giving tradition/condition, then by all means reclaim THAT!
