Lets be clear: I watch Scandal b/c I think that the writing is superb. It takes an age old concept (in television and movies) and throws in just enough extra to keep me entertained. When I watch this show, Im not watching b/c it makes me feel wanted, loved, or dreamed for. Girl, what the hell? If you need a show to validate your importance or desirability as a whole, its probably a good idea that you talk to someone about it because its quite possible you have daddy (or some other) issues thatd allow you to use a TV show to fill in the space. Ive never used a show like this or any other to make me feel like anything BUT entertained. Im so sick of the media (and now, apparently, Black writers) attempting to psychoanalyze all things Black. This much of a damn wasnt given about any of us until the Obamas hit the white house but suddenly, were being examined and studied like some wacky science experiment that no one can quite figure out? I dont need you taking a hard look into Black women being a single mother; this has been a fact for years and none of you cared to look at it from its onset, nor have you done much in terms of providing a solution. I dont need you to offer some psychoanalysis of the Black female psyche as it pertains to television; weve been watching this shit for years now and never once did any of you care about our choices. Its absolutely NOT necessary that you attempt to take your examination sticks, poking and prodding at us, acting as though were a thing and not PEOPLE just like you. Believe it or not white media (and the handful of Black writers who play into this bullshit), were actually a group of people, who much like you, enjoy being entertained every now and then with no real answer as to why. To the writer who wrote this: girl, speak for yourself. I may have a few daddy issues here and there, but I damn sure dont look to Scandal to sooth any parts of that. I suggest you pop some popcorn, leave the laptop alone, and just enjoy the damn show. ...and there you go.
