Lets get a few historical (and not biblical - i.e. a fairytale) facts straight on Palestine for the Hasbaraists out there... Was Palestine ever recognized as an entity by another country? Yes. By whom? Palestine was called Paleset by the ancient Egyptians as early as 1150 BC, then Palashtun by the Assyrians as early as 852 BC, Herodotus and many Greek historians referred to it as Palaistinê as early as the 5th century BC, and even Aristotle referred to it by that name a century later, then Syria Palestina and Palestina Prima by the Romans and Byzantine Empire, etc. etc. and even under the British mandate it was recognized as Palestine. The treaty of Sevres refers to Palestine. Even the Zionist leaders of the Basel Congress, the First Zionist Congress, and the Balfour declaration referred to it as Palestine. In ANY case, one of the basic precepts of international law is that the existence of a state and a nation does NOT depend on its recognition by foreign entities. Examples are the state of Chiapas, Sealand, Kosovo, etc. What was the language of the country called Palestine? Most recently, Arabic. What was Palestines religion? Just like Israel, a conglomerate of religions. For a political entity to exist, it is not required that it declares itself a theocracy. That is Israels specialty, but that standard is and shouldnt be applied to others. What is the religion of the political entity of Italy, or the United States? None. What was the name of its currency? In reverse chronological order: Jordanian Dinar, Palestinian Pound, Ottoman Lira, Para, Stavrata, Denarius, and Annaku. Since there is no such country today, what caused her demise? The misappropriation of the territory by the UK under UN mandate, the Treaty of Sevres, the consequent Israeli occupation, and the fact that the territory has changed hands between a variety of empires and conquerors for most of its history. An occupied land does NOT negate the existence of a nation. Just like the fact that Indonesia was occupied by the Dutch for over 450 years negate the existence of Indonesia as an entity, nor does the French occupation of Algeria, the British occupation of Egypt, and same thing for most nations with a colonial past.
