Lets get the facts straight. Its deeply concerning to read of problems at Bournville College which is a key part of our community and provides wonderful opportunities for so many young people. Ive seen for myself how much the young people get out of attending the excellent vocational courses there. However, any suggestion that it is government funding that has led to these problems is highly inaccurate. Government funding settlements are agreed years in advance and whatever financial problems the college faces are not linked to this. They do however need to be dealt with effectively. Thats what this government will be doing, supporting the college to ensure it continues to provide great opportunities for our local young people. This government is committed to ensuring all young people living in Northfield reach their potential, with thousands more apprenticeships and record falls in youth unemployment in our area.
