Lets give a big EM-S ISD welcome to our new Athletic Director, Brent Barker. Coach Barker has already been out and about in the District, checking out the great things going on with our summer camps in preparation for an outstanding 14-15 year for EM-S ISD athletics. Read more about Coach Barker: Brent Barker returns to his home state of Texas and the Eagle Mountain-Saginaw Independent School District after an ultra-successful stint at the collegiate level, where he served as both a head coach and athletic director at Faulkner University in Alabama. In his 14 years at Faulkner, Barker served four sports as head coach - baseball, mens and womens golf and football - and has been the athletic director the past nine years. He came to Faulkner in 2001 as the head baseball coach, and immediately lifted the Eagles to national prominence. Faulkner was consistently ranked in the NAIAs top 10 and in seven total seasons at the helm he averaged 40 wins a year. He guided the Eagles to the 2001 NCCAA national championship and to NAIA regional tournaments in 2002, 2003 and 2004, with his 2004 team winning the Georgia-Alabama-Carolina Conference championship. In five seasons as Faulkners head golf coach, Barker helped build the foundation of the mens team while starting the womens team. He recruited most of the players on the mens team that qualified for both the 2013 and 2014 NAIA national tournaments. In 2012, Barker took over the Eagles football program, which had a combined 10-41 record in its first five seasons of intercollegiate competition. In his first season, Faulkner posted the programs first winning record at 6-5. Last year, the Eagles went 9-3, earned a top 10 ranking in winning the Mid-South Conferences West Division title and made their first appearance in the NAIA playoffs. Under his watch as athletic director, Faulkner programs enjoyed great success. In the past two seasons alone, there were eight teams that earned bids to NAIA national tournaments. Before moving to Alabama, Barker enjoyed success as both an assistant and head coach at the high school level in the Forth Worth area. He spent three years as an assistant at national powerhouse Southlake Carroll and was part of a state championship in 1993. As head coach at Southwest Christian School in Fort Worth, Barker posted a 42-17 in five seasons, guiding the Eagles to a pair of district championships and a state championship game berth in 1999. Also at Southlake Carroll, Barker served as the head baseball coach, where he garnered a 77-23 record in three seasons, including three trips to the regional tournament. In 1996, he guided the Dragons to the 4A state tournament. Barker was a three-sport letterman at Western Hills High School in Forth Worth before earning a baseball scholarship to Texas Christian University, where he was a four-year starter as a middle infielder for the Horned Frogs. He earned a Bachelors Degree in Education from TCU, graduating 1986. He and his wife Belinda have been married for 26 years, and have two daughters - Brooke, age 24, and Bridget, age 21.
