Lets go with some brotherly love for tonight. Rock has a history of contentious relationships among brothers. The Black Crowes had Chris and Rich Robinson, and Oasis had Liam and Noel Gallagher. John Fogerty and Tom Fogerty only managed to make it work in Creedence Clearwater Revival for a little while, and even The Everly Brothers had their problems. Even with all of those other groups, The Kinks stand out for me among those other bands. The Kinks were a hugely influential part of the British Invasion that started as a proto-punk band that eventually morphed into the quintessential English rock band. Brothers Ray and Dave Davies were the main driving force of the band, and they are apparently talking again about a possible Kinks reunion after splitting up the band in 1996. The relationship between the siblings was always described as tense, but I would think that they might be able to put differences aside for a little bit. They made it work for roughly 30 years, so whats one more album? All that being said, Ray couldnt even convince Dave to perform with him at the funeral of their bassist in 2010, so who knows? Until some new material shows up, heres a clip of All Day and All of the Night. If the song sounds familiar, its basically the group rewriting their hit You Really Got Me. While I admit that they are practically the same song, I still like them both. Heres a recorded version if the live version below doesnt do it for you: https://youtube/watch?v=mMWNwHof0kc - Mr. Big #TheKinks #AllDayandAlloftheNight #kinksreunion #brothers
