Lets just do a little review since we have been addressing the often misused term about God not being a Respecter of Persons. That does not mean that he did not favor one over others. Lets look at some of that favor. Jos 24:1 Then Joshua gathered all the tribes of Israel to Shechem and called for the elders of Israel, for their heads, for their judges, and for their officers; and they presented themselves before God. Jos 24:2 And Joshua said to all the people, Thus says the LORD God of Israel: Your fathers, including Terah, the father of Abraham and the father of Nahor, dwelt on the other side of the River in old times; and they served other gods. Jos 24:3 Then I took your father Abraham from the other side of the River, led him throughout all the land of Canaan, and multiplied his descendants and gave him Isaac. Why did God favor Abraham over his father and brother here? We cannot possibly know. If God had not stepped in and reveal Himself to Abraham he would have gone on never knowing there was a God apart from the Gods his father and brother served. The point is that God did not owe anyone in the world anything. All men deserved to be destroyed with no revelation of Himself. If anyone knows of someone who did not deserve destruction please let me know.
