Lets not shoot the messenger people. Bub Sheary should be - TopicsExpress

Lets not shoot the messenger people. Bub Sheary should be applauded for encouraging open an honest debate without the fear of censorship. A fundamental ethos of any free, democratic society. Let me share my concerns regarding the reporting of HUHAs story around Izzys so-called rescue. As I discussed with a HUHA representative during my show last Saturday, as someone who works in media, I was disgusted with the way HUHA reported Izzys. In my opinion the article was incredibly biased, inflammatory and grossly misrepresentative of the truth. Lets start with the timing, strategically coinciding with Sundays program on NZs sometimes shameful pork industry. Coincidence, I think not. I sure if I has watched it I would have been mortified too. Their opening line, THE POLICE WERE ON OUR SIDE - WRONG. In these matters (a civil dispute) the Police dont take sides. There position regarding this matter is the landowner is legally entitled to dispose of Izzy. Izzy was living in her own filth, WRONG. Pigs are very clean animals. The photo speaks for itself. It shows Izzy in a portion of her outdoor arena after a particularly heavy downpour. Would she be drinking her own filth? Absolutely not!! Did HUHAs report mention she had a very warm, clean dry, covered shelter as part of her enclosure. NO. Was Izzy abandoned and abused. No and YES. Definitely not abandoned both the landowner and HUHA knew that I personally was feeding Izzy. Was she abused, YES. Surprisingly not by the owner or myself, but by those who took it open themselves to interfere and continually stress Izzy with multiple failed attempts to remove her from her home. She was perfectly happy where she was and did everything in her power to stay. Again HUHA inadvertently provide their own proof. PHOTO CAPTIONED; Phew, easing the gentle giant on to the trailer keeping stress to a minimum was a great achievement. WHAT A LOAD OF BOLLOCKS!!! What you see is a pig at the end of a very stressful 48 hours. She isnt smiling she is snapping. Thats right, what you see is one very stressed pig. This last ordeal for Izzy began late on a Friday and finally, exhausted, she gave in late on Sunday afternoon. 48 HOURS LATER!!!! I could go on, but hopefully youre beginning to get the idea. FACT; While all this was going on I was the only interested in sticking up for Izzy. FACT; For my concern I have been abused, assaulted and evicted. FACT; If HUHA were true to their name, they would have helped both me and the owner help Izzy. Why did fail to do this? And, when Izzy was being so poorly treated, on occasion being blocked from her sleeping quarters, then nailed into them. Why did HUHA not act? Do they condone such behaviour? The law is changing. Those organisations that use social media to prmote their cause have an obligation to do so responsibly. When if comes to Izzy the pig, I feel HUHA failed miserably.
