Lets recap: The winter meetings cane and went this past week and while the #mets didnt make the big trade time fans hoped for, they didnt come home empty handed. First, they selected LHP Sean Gilmartin in the rule 5 draft. Gilmartin, formerly of the Twins, projects to be the second lefty in the pen and his numbers reflect success against left handed hitters. The Mets also re-signed LHP Scott Rice, who missed the majority of 2014 due to elbow surgery, to a minor league deal. Next, they signed OF John Mayberry Jr. to a 1/$1.45MM deal. Mayberry will be the 5th outfielder and right handed bat off the bench as his career numbers show exactly how well he handles lefty pitching. So, barring anymore changes, the current roster, imho, is as follows: C dArnaud 1b Duda 2b Murphy 3b Wright SS Flores LF Granderson CF Lagares RF Cuddyer C Recker INF Tejada OF Mayberry OF Nieuwenhuis/den Dekker UTIL Campbell RSP Harvey RSP Wheeler RSP deGrom LSP Niese RSP Colon RRP Gee RRP Torres LRP Gilmartin LRP Edgin RRP Familia RRP Parnell RRP Mejia If (and when) Gee is traded, his spot goes to RRP Black. This is a solid, well rounded roster with talent still in the pipeline in the form of: Syndergaard Montero Matz Ynoa Mazzoni Mazzili jr Smith Puello Plawecki Nieuwenhuis/den Dekker Reynolds Leathersich Nimmo Herrera And a few more. Confidence is high!! LGM!! Thoughts?? ~JT
