Lets start ! Old Fashioned #1 The original formula for Old fashioned used Rye Whiskey. So we will start with that. The recipe we will use would be the most basic without much frills, bells, and whistle and would be consistent, with the exception of the whisky/whiskey. OLD FASHIONED with RYE WHISKEY - 2 oz Whistle Pig 10 yo Rye Whiskey 100 proof ( 50%abv) - 1 teaspoon of Turbinado Cane Sugar - 2 healthy dashes of Angustura bitters Pour ingredients in a shaker with ice and shake for 15 sec. Pour contents onto an Old fashioned glass with a giant single ice cube Garnish with a slice of orange and Woodford Reserve Gourmet Cherry NOSE: The orange comes to play but you also get hints of caramel and vanilla PALATE: Rich, Spicy, Full Bodied. Then the vanilla and caramel coming out in mid palate. At the end comes dark chocolates, cloves and ripe oranges. CONCLUSION: Very delightful. Now I know why they were crazy about this in the 19th century.
