Lets talk about Sports Drinks! Gatorade just came out with the greatest ad campaign!! They are finally promoting it to their real target market – atheltes and people that SWEAT. Watch @cameron1newton in this hilarious vid! SWEAT IT TO GET IT. Full video link in my Facebook page. ✅ What is in Gatorade? Water, Electrolytes (sodium and potassium mostly), and a combination of sugars (fructose, sucrose, and glucose) which use different transport systems to be absorbed into your blood. Gatorade was invented in 1965 by Dr. Robert Cade after seeing the Gators at the University of Florida Football Team in a hot summer, could not keep up with their practices. He mixed some water, with salt, and lemon flavor, and Gatorade was born. ➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖ Gatorade and other Sports Drinks are designed for people who sweat, athletes, and fitness enthusiasts who exercise intensively. Here are some guidelines and things you need to know about Sports Drinks: 1⃣ If exercising more than one hour (and sweating a lot) you might benefit from Sports Drinks to replace electrolytes and fluids, and provide you with quick energy. 2⃣ 5-8 oz every 15 min is the rule of thumb. People overdrink sports drinks because they taste good. Sometimes they cause stomach cramps because it is too much sugar in the stomach. When this happens, your stomach pulls water from your body to dilute all that sugar. THIS ALSO DEHYDRATES YOU! 3⃣ Sports Drinks are to be used during activity. Not sitting in the couch watching TV, or when eating meals. UNLESS It was after intense training. 4⃣ Gatorade has a line of products called G2 which are lower in sugar, and with the same amount of electrolytes, I recommend this to more leisurely fitness enthusiasts. 5⃣ Lack of electrolytes often times cause cramping! Replenishing what is lost in sweat is important. ✅✅ Bottomline!! Gatorade and sports drinks (Powerade, etc) isn’t for anyone. It is for those who exercise and sweat a lot. Mainly Athletes.
