Lets talk about girl power. Feels as though it’s been missing - TopicsExpress

Lets talk about girl power. Feels as though it’s been missing lately, doesnt it? Fortunately, Marvels Agent Carter has arrived to reboot our interest and save us. Not that there arent any strong, interesting or intriguing female characters in either movies or television today, but just because we could use someone in a title role who reminds us that it’s okay for a woman to be larger than life. And that we can depend on her. As far as the television landscape is concerned, Carter is the second most important show on my DVR short list for the season. And while many will dismiss it for being a chick show, or because it is a period piece, or because it wont add to the current Marvel anthology, or just because it wont have super powers, I welcome it as something that (in my opinion) hasnt had me interested in its concept since Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter. It wasnt a masterpiece, nor did it need to be. Just DIFFERENT. And as far as Agents of SHIELD goes, thank God Carter IS different. Designed to be an eight-part story, Im certain it will be a more satisfying endeavor than its older, into-the-present television sibling. At the moment, it promises to be more stylish, unique and down-to-earth. Which, for me, is always better than the gimmick-of-the-week approach. This isn’t a fanboy rant over what show is better. Fanboys LOVE to argue that ‘my-hero-show/movie-is-better-than-your hero show/movie’. I’m not listening to that this time (because mine IS better). Style, energy, action, mystery and a storyline already starting to snowball into something big: ‘Agent Carter’ delivers. Enjoy the ride, geekers.
