Lets talk about horrible situations... (the ending might surprise you) A week ago I setup my Time Warner Cable account in preparation for my move to Los Angeles. (1) I asked them to ship a modem, they shipped a digital switch. (2) They said theyd send someone to me by the end of the day, they didnt. (3) They told me to ride my bike 3.6 miles to their location that was open till 6:00PM, it was 4.8 miles and it closed at 5:30PM - ten minutes before I got there. (4) They sent me to their Crenshaw location that was 9 miles away and closed at 7:00PM so I called an Uber. (5) I paid $21.51 to a guy who told me he wasnt taking another ride till he got out of the neighborhood because another driver had been shot a few nights prior. I just got back to my place in Venice and plugged in the new modem... (A) I now have Internet. (B) I met a kickass Uber driver who gave me an epic tour of the area and was a super cool dude to talk to. (C) I had an amaze-balls 15 mile bike ride through Los Angeles in absolutely perfect weather and experienced their surprising abundance of bike lanes. Am I mad at TWC for screwing me over? Nah, its in the past. Its only a horrible situation if you allow it to be one and in my eyes this wasnt close. We all have a choice of how we invest our energy and Im choosing not to waste mine of something so trivial when the side effects were so amazing. One day and one epic adventure - I like those stats!
