Lets talk about what to do post physique contest. First it is imperative to follow what they call these days a reverse diet. A reverse diet is simply slowly easing your caloric intake back upwards while reducing cardio/exercise time and volume. The next thing to do is to realize that first you SHOULD NOT TRY TO LOOK LIKE YOU DID IN CONTEST SHAPE ALL THE TIME, rather strive to make lean body mass gains as this is a great time to do this. It is not however a license to eat everything that is not nailed down and in turn gain a large amount of weight. If you do gain a large amount of weight post contest(remember at this time your body is in a sensitive state mentally and hormonally) it will set you up for a roller coaster of emotions and could put your health at risk. Bottom line is you must HAVE A PLAN, you have a plan (hopefully) when you diet down so it makes sense to have one when you go back out of that. Set goals! Whether it be to gain muscle and concentrate on bringing up weak points or trying another endeavor at least you will have direction. This is a topic that is very much overlooked in the physique competition community. Only in the last few years thanks to a few people (layne norton especially) has this topic been brought to light.
