Lets talk on the healing power of massage, and holistic relations - TopicsExpress

Lets talk on the healing power of massage, and holistic relations within human body. 20+ years ago, I have received 45 years old patient, who was involved in very nasty motorcycle collision; multiple fractures, etc. He was scheduled for C/spine and L/spine surgeries. Practically in a few treatments, he started reporting evidences of improvement; less pain etc. To make a long story short, doctors canceled the surgeries and he was good to go without operations. Honestly, I dont believe that have he had a surgery 20 years ago, he would be as well off as he is today. Surgery is a surgery, you know where you start, but no one can guarantee the successful outcome. More than that, before surgery everyone signs medical consent releasing liability in case of a fatal outcome. Please pay attention, that during this 20 years, MRI reading continued to show disc herniation. It cannot disappear. People who claim “pushing” disc back, simply not telling the truth. Some disc decompression possible, but disc bulging and herniation will sustain and MRI reading will support it. Why then my patient didnt have the pains, having had all these changes within the spine? Massage procedure, which is a powerful stimulation that restores myofascial function to adequately support and move spinal column, at the same time significantly reduces weight-bearing on the facet joints, inter-vertebral disc etc. Not less importantly, massage procedure concurrently “teach/resetting a threshold“ lower motor centers, not to fire due to spinal changes, including disc herniations, spinal osteoarthritis, etc. During these 20 years, periodically I used to provide treatment for him. These kind of significant trauma fuels development of degenerative diseases, as well as may cause negative emotional developments such as brain generated pains, anxieties (constant sensation of Stress with no real objectives, emotional memories). Therefore, it is necessary from time to time to provide treatment, including incorporation of home self-stress management massage, as well as self-orthopedic massage procedures. Again, during all this 20 years, his functional activities were kept operational. The range of motion within neck was still limited, but improved significantly, and maintained pretty well. Yesterday I saw him again. For different reasons we decided to incorporate abdominal/ visceral massage in the treatment plan along with orthopedic massage. After completing abdominal/visceral massage, I started to work on his neck. I felt changes under my hands. After few petrissage movements, significant tension in muscles dropped. After completion of the treatment, I assessed the range of motion. To our mutual pleasant surprise, the range of motion restored completely. Actually, Im not sure if 20 years ago before the accident, he could move his neck better. I asked myself whether this was an anti-aging procedure. The answer was obvious. Not many men and women of his age group are actually capable to perform full-motion within neck. It is natural that with age most of us losing part of the range of motions, due to degenerative changes within support and movement system. But this is Not the most important point at this article. What happened with cervical spine muscles secondary to abdominal /visceral massage? There is no way that these drastic changes within neck, were not related to abdominal /visceral massage. As a therapist who provided this treatment, I can tell that they were, definitely, related. Besides, my client said they were related, as he felt they were. After the treatment he said: ” I feel like absolutely young person. During the last 20 years my condition was continue improving, and this is why I continue coming back to you.” Isnt this patient reported anti-aging outcome? But lets go back to the important question: What happened with cervical spine muscles secondary to abdominal /visceral massage? Please post your thoughts. Best wishes. Boris
