As Labor Day passed into evening, a thought has come to me. All my friends who arent Ukrainian or of Ukrainian descent, all my teachers and co-workers in the United States of America who spent much time explaining to me that I am Russian, and my language is Russian, and it is like Texas and New York, and those who tried to impress me by writing notes to me in Russian and trying to say a few words you may have learned in college, I want you to know, I forgive you but I will never forget. I have known who I am and what language I speak at home all my life. Now you know as well. Oh, and by the way, Kyiv is the way we Ukrainians say Kiev. Kiev is the way those who arent Ukrainian and follow Russia and its lead say it. I have learned that Peking is Beijing; please learn that the capital of my country is Kyiv. I accept your apology for insulting me and my ancestors all these years. I hope you never have to learn what it means to be under Russian control and Russian influence.
