Letter of complaint to RTE. Please share and send. Dear Sir/Madam, I refer to the disgraceful behaviour of Mr. Brian Dobson of RTE, the national broadcaster last night. His referring to protesters in the background as idiots is in my opinion, clearly in breach of the Broadcasting Act 2009, section 48(1)(a)(objectivity, and impartiality in news) and (fairness, objectivity & impartiality in current affairs). The image of RTE as impartial and professional slipped badly, and given that it is a dual funded public service broadcaster, being part-funded from revenue collected from the public by way of the TV License Fee, it has a responsibility to avoid such a public biased slant against the right to expression, as enshrined in the Irish Constitution The State is charged with ensuring that the press is not used to undermine public order, and Mr. Dobsons outburst is, in my opinion, clearly inflammatory and potentially defamatory. This is an open insult to every individual who has managed to pay their TV Licence while struggling to maintain their home in the current economic climate. Yours sincerely,
