Letter sent to Margueritte Quinn today…Please consider writing to your representatives this week…they need to hear this: Dear Representative Quinn, It is with extreme displeasure and concern that I am writing to you today, after hearing the news of the Penneast pipeline and its potentially destructive path through the beautiful communities from Luzerne county through Northhampton and Bucks Counties and onward, across the beloved Delaware River to and throughout New Jerseys scenic river towns and preserved farmlands of Milford, Frenchtown and Lambertville, on its way to Trenton and beyond. To be clear, the 30 inch pipeline is not something that I personally think should be put anywhere in the state. The gas that would run through the pipeline would be the dirty commodity emanating from the already proven water fouling, eco-system destructing method of Fracking being carried out to the detriment of the communities across PA that have the unfortunate luck to live on land deemed Marcellus Shale. The announcement of the pipeline plans within a day or two of the news of the DEP finally acknowledging 243 incidents of water contamination by that awful method, simply added insult to injury. Aside from all of this, the plans to place a 30 inch pipe through the Delaware river and the aforementioned areas would be a massive blow to the area economically. Pipelines do NOT pay taxes, they routinely ruin areas that are natural treasures, and our Delaware river is just that, a national treasure. The untold toll this pipeline will take on the local and tourist economies of all the areas involved will be massive and irrecoverable. And who in their right mind would want to live on or near the route of this pipeline? The natural gas industry is getting progressively worse in terms of safety, not better. Pipeline explosions are increasing, and UGI the builder of this one, just happens to be the very same company that was responsible the pipeline explosion in Allentown that killed 5, including an infant. According the the Federal Utilities Commission, the company accrued 178 violations and called this record downright alarming. Is this the company that you would want even touching your gas stove, let alone a pipeline that runs the length of 105 miles? Representative Quinn, I am pleading with you. Oppose this pipeline. Help your constituents. I think you will find a growing number of people will oppose this as soon as they know about it. Sincerely yours, XXXXXXXXX
