Letter to the Editor Jack Hatch cares about people An article in the Des Moines Register polling the opinion of Iowans on the humanitarian interest of the two candidates for Governor showed a higher percent of Iowans thought Iowa Senator Jack Hatch has more interest in helping people than Governor Branstad. This is evident since Hatch spear headed in the Senate legislation to expand Medicaid in Iowa, which Branstad was against for a very long time. Do I need to say how much expanded Medicaid has assist millions of Iowans? Senator Hatch also sponsored legislation that Redesigned Mental Health and Disability Services. This organizes the services delivery system in administrative regions. Counties can pool their services in these regions, enlarging the resource of assistance and providing a set of core services to improve Iowans’ health. An example of the huge difference in humanitarian interests of the gubernatorial candidates is the opinions on the recent children immigrants. The current Governor didn’t want Iowa to provide help for these children. Branstad’s solution was just send them back to the same bad situations. Jack Hatch was all about finding some assistance in this country or state for the children. Iowa need a leader who will take the people needs into consideration when governing. That leader is Jack Hatch --- spread the word!
