Letter to the Herald-Mail, which may not make it into the paper prior to the election... 10/30/14 To the Editor, Election Day is almost upon us, and I sincerely hope that you, the Washington County registered voter, are planning to vote. Voting is a privilege and a right. You have a civic duty to participate in selecting those who are going to govern for you. Your voice and your vote do count. You’ve heard a lot of campaign promises from your County Commissioner candidates. We all would like lower taxes, a stronger economy, business development in Washington County, maintenance of a healthy infrastructure, robust Fire and Emergency Services, and more support for our schools. One person cannot walk into the Commissioners’ Chambers and make things happen, regardless of his or her promises. I, Paul F. Miller, can promise you this if you elect me as one of your County Commissioners: • I will read, research and understand every issue prior to voting on it. • I will consistently make decisions intended to improve the quality of life for those who live and work in Washington County. • I will work collaboratively with the other four Commissioners so that we can get things done. • I will make fiscally responsible decisions. • I will keep you, the citizens, informed about issues and decisions, and listen to your voices. • I will support and promote all the positive attractions and attributes Washington County has to offer, such as agriculture, Civil War history, parks, small town festivals, the Arts and Entertainment District, and much, much, more. I have dedicated my life to serving the community through my work in non-profit organizations, and would be honored to serve the community as a County Commissioner. I hope you will vote for me on November 4th . If not, I hope you will at least exercise your right to vote. Sincerely, Paul F. Miller Candidate Washington County Commissioner Fairplay, MD 240-818-4870
